Why Choose This Activity
Delayed Match is built for Memory Care when a caregiver wants to practice short-term recall in a calm, conversational way. You control how long the picture stays visible and how long to wait before choices appear - there is no automatic timer on the delay. The focus is the attempt and the talk around each image, not speed.
Flexible delay and choice count let caregivers start gently and increase challenge only when the person is ready.
How It Plays
A picture appears for as long as you like. The caregiver taps Hide to cover it, waits as long as they choose, then taps Show Choices to reveal several pictures. The person taps the one that matches. Correct picks show a green outline; wrong picks flash red and the right image is highlighted.
Settings & Difficulty
Levels: No difficulty settings
- Rounds: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, or 10 pictures per session
- Choices: 2 through 9 pictures when guessing
- No automatic delay timer - caregiver controls Hide and Show Choices timing
Facilitator Tips
- Start with 2–3 choices and a very short delay - Show Choices almost right after Hide.
- Try a counted delay: count together before revealing choices for a consistent rhythm.
- During the wait, ask a simple unrelated question to add a gentle distraction.
- Before Hide, ask "What is this?" - naming the picture aloud often helps memory.
- Celebrate the attempt; conversation around each image matters as much as a correct tap.
