Why Choose This Activity
Slider Puzzle works on Memory Care and Sharp Mind when someone likes sliding tiles into place at their own pace. The finished order is always clear - numbers run left to right, top to bottom, with the gap in the bottom-right corner. Image mode adds a familiar picture to rebuild for extra motivation.
Solvable layouts, tap-or-drag moves, and both number and picture modes make this classic puzzle approachable at 3×3 through 5×5 sizes.
How It Plays
Slide tiles into the empty space until the board matches the goal. Tap or drag a tile in the same row or column as the gap - tiles between it and the gap move together. In Numbers mode, order tiles 1, 2, 3… with the empty space bottom-right. In Images mode, rebuild the scene; tap the eye button to peek at the full picture.

Facilitator Tips
- Remind players the empty space finishes in the bottom-right corner, not the left.
- Start with 3×3 Numbers before trying larger boards or image mode.
- Tapping a tile far from the gap slides every tile between it and the gap.
- In Image mode, use the eye button under the board to peek at the goal picture.
- Every starting layout is solvable - fewer moves and less time make a nicer result.
